Cycle World Magazine For Sale?

Monday, March 30th, 2009

cycleworld509.jpgAs you have probably seen over the years, we here at Guilty Truth Blog try to be open to as many avenues of information as possible (blogs, rags, boards, radio, etc) as we believe we can learn about some cool trends as well as cool tricks regardless of what you ride or where you live. One place we frequently go is magazines. And over the years we’ve seen numerous rags hit the skids (as well as “tweeking” their publication schedules), due to the economy, bad management and of course the increased use of the internet. One “possible” magazine up for sale now (per the guys at Kneeslider blog), is Cycle World Magazine. Take a look HERE.

Hey, thanks for coming back! Great to see there are a few of you out there that have taste and style! Seriously, thanks for visiting. If you know of stories you think people would be interested in, shoot us a line C'ya!

Rat Rod “Guilty Style”

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

gasstation02_edited.jpgWe love rat rod’s. You know those cars or trucks that look as if their owner hasn’t actually finished the build. But rather slapped, welded, chicken wired together the raw steel or aluminum body in a rush. Using minimal comfort interiors combined with slammed or cut off roof lines and old wheels and cool pin stripping rawmetal_vw_awesome_edited.jpg(if even that). Well the Guilty Gang is on a hunt of sorts to find a donor car/truck/vw etc, we can get our grimy mitts on in order to make a “corporate sponsored” rat rod. We’ll be approaching various corporate sponsors (tire, wheel, body shops, engine, etc) for this build that will travel with us to events around the country in the Limpnickie Lot. So, if you’ve got some piece of crap hanging around your yard, garage or know of someone that does, give us a shout. We will post every entry and then let the readers choose which one we go with. Then this build will be documented on the site and who knows, maybe even some cool carma will come your way!

Fish Design’s “Green” Chopper

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

hybrid-motorcycle_fish_design1.jpgGranted, we’re all about cleaning up the environment in a manner that helps sustain our longevity here on this planet. And we’ve even taken on some projects of our own to help; such as separating our plastic’s from paper, reducing lawn work and even coffee consumption. Yes, really! Even going as far as getting a dually diesel truck in place of a gas truck (they say it’s cleaner-but we just like the sound and size). But if your serious about helping the environment, you have to take risks, and step outside the norm of everyday “business as usual”. Which it looks like the guys at Fish Design, have done. They have a future concept for a chopper that has environmentaly friendly techniques. In their words,

“The purpose was to find a future concept for custom motorcycles, without a “real” engine, sound or traditional design. I wish to attract a cool target group. The hybrid power train is not as beautiful as the traditional custom engine. (v-twin) How does that affect the esthetical function? The keyword for my design is “powerful elegance”.”

While it won’t get you the reaction you’re use to having when you crack back the throttle and blast those unsuspecting pedestrians or cagers, you can rest assured you’d be appreciated by environmental activist, grand kids, politicians that listen to their constituents and neighbors. Seriously. Really. Take my word for it. Honest. No kidding.

Norton Model 18 Flat Tank

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

f2_edited.jpgWhen we see vintage bikes, such as this Norton we have to admit they have a certain allure to them. Whether your an avid enthusiast or casual observer, your head turns and your mind wonders whenever you hear and/or see one of these beauties floating down the road. This Flat Tank 18 built by Norton came via a friend of ours to our grubby hands. f7_edited.jpgThese Flat Tanks are coveted as they were made for a brief period (1900-28) and due to economic times (i.e. forcing more production efficiencies), esthetics and design challenges, became most important to a manufacturers survival, thus the Flat Tankers are truly the last of the hand-built motorcycles. Norton’s (called by fans “the untouchable or unbeatable Norton) has a rich history which we all can benefit from if we just spend the time and effort to learn about them.

Motorcycle Industries Biggest Loser Contest Announced

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

We didn’t see this coming. Really. Motorcycle Industry Personnel Rally Around Healthier Living! During Daytona Bike Week, Chris Callen of Cycle Source Magazine and Roadside Marty Of Willies Tropical Tattoo Show were on the topic of “losing the winter pounds”. Well one thing lead to another and a contest to see who could be in better shape by the end of this year’s riding season was born. Well, as long as these two are going to the mat in the name of good health, they decided to take it into the motorcycle media and see who else they could get involved with this contest. Here’s the outline of what’s going on:

Official starting weight, photo, age and current health conditions will be established in the first issue. From there they will give monthly updates as to their personal health, fitness level and diet as well as updated weight and picture. Through a monthly release in whatever print media and all blogs and motorcycle news Web sites will carry it, the progress of the Wicked Big Losers group will be tracked as they work their way towards better health. There will also be small bits of information from health and nutrition experts, fitness trainers and long time motorcycle personalities who practice good health like a religion. But we need more big losers! If you are or know anyone that could stand about six months of getting in shape, please contact us ASAP as we are in the process of launching this campaign.

Here is the first installment from Chris Callen.

chris_callen_photo_edited.jpgStarting weight= 309 lbs. Average exercise hours in a week = 0 Health condition = Poor Age = 38
Since the magazine has gone to the national newsstands I have had very little time to take care of myself, hence the very large spare tire that has amassed around my midsection. (No I am not smuggling free Dunlops across state lines). Anyway, after many lectures from friends and family, and one time when Cyril Huze told me I’m not built for love, I am ready to get back in shape, for my health and appearance. Riding hard and partying like a nut is only okay if you prepare your body for the abuse of life on the road. I have not and it’s staring to take its toll. I look to lose about 80 pounds during this challenge, that was the weight I was at about five years ago when the magazine went to the regional newsstands and I started working 18 hour days. PS- Roadside, it’s on like Donkey Kong…. Beyatch!

Limpnickie Lot during Daytona Bike Week 09.

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

p1010504edited.jpgSo, we’ve been a bit slack on updating you on our adventures in Daytona during Bike Week. It wasn’t due to not having enough material to sling at you but rather, which stuff to tell you about as the days were filled with adventure. We can tell you that based upon attendance and comments from people such as Cyril Huze, Billy Lane, Athena (Biker Chic) and various magazine editors, the Limpnickie Lot was “THE place to be during Bike Week“. With around the clock shenanigans as well as “visitor activities” such as night time biker movies, car bashing, paintball wars (yes the ladies got involved too), p1010486edited.jpgrock-a-billy and rock-and-roll music and rat rod cars and trucks visiting the lot, the Limpnickie gang brought fun back to Daytona. Also with visits from Willy G himself and other industry biggies, the lot was definitely getting some interest from the big boys.

p1010490edited.jpgThe “gang” visited such places as the Dog House where smoking guitars were presented from lot builders such as Nash Motorcycle, Bling Cycles, Bare Knuckle and Lead Sled, to the Hard Rock for fund raising purposes. Then onto the Broken Spoke which was hosting a “Limpnickie Lot Night” for a rematch for the title of World’s Burn Out King as well as a group ride to Willie’s Tropical Tattoo for the show. And lest we forget our own Cycle Source Magazine Bike Show… which had some of the countries coolest old school bikes rolling right into the skate park. Talk about cool!!
p1010499edited.jpgThe Limpnickie Lot and their entourage showed Daytona what it really needed in order to have a lot of fun… which was cool rides, hot cars and an inclusive environment where anyone can have fun as long as your ride a cool bike and didn’t bring an attitude. Later guys!
