Sly and CJ walk the Limpnickie Lot in Big Easy

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

img_9798Well, it was bound to happen. Some celeb starts walking around the lot during New Orleans Bike Week and who gets tagged with showing them around? Yours truly. It wasn’t all bad though. Sly seemed to take a genuine interest in the Limpnickie Lot and even took a seat on a few of them as well. All said, it was a bit surreal but fun. Nice guy, but way too many body guards and hawkers. Sly, your welcome to come back anytime and we’ll try to keep the crowds away so you can enjoy your time with the Limpnickie Lot gang.

Hey, thanks for coming back! Great to see there are a few of you out there that have taste and style! Seriously, thanks for visiting. If you know of stories you think people would be interested in, shoot us a line C'ya!

Brass Balls gets “wired” with Wire Plus Electronics

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

bobber-with-model-5-15-09For those of you that know Dar Holdsworth of Brass Balls you know he isn’t one to do thing half way. So when we heard he was teaming up with Wire Plus to use their components, we knew he’s done his homework and must have put their products through the ringer. Today Wire Plus Powersport Electronics announced that the firm had completed a supplier agreement with Darwin Motorcycles, manufacturer of Brass Balls Bobbers & Choppers. Dar stated:

“Our entire line of custom-production Bobbers and Choppers will now be outfitted with Wire Plus custom wiring harnesses and digital instrument panels. In addition, the majority of our product line will sport their latest digital black face speedo.”

Holdsworth added, “We selected Wire-Plus because their systems are built to survive the rugged environment of the Harley-Davidson and custom v-twin bike markets and feature vibration resistant, solidstate breaker technology. Wire Plus is another building block in our continuous improvement campaign to build bullet-proof motorcycles that keep our riders doing what they like to do best…get out and ride!” Wire Plus has been engineering state-of-the-art products for more than a decade and has worked with and supplied product for most everyone in the industry, including Big Bear Choppers and Big Dog Motorcycles.

“Holdsworth is building his bikes right on the money with products and features found on bikes costing thousands of dollars more”, exclaimed Rick Marler, president of Wire Plus. “His idea to build a bike with quality components at value pricing is a time tested tactic that gets everyone excited. We are proud to be a member of his new Team of Venders.”

“Miles and Music” Charity Ride

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

Strokers DallasThose of you that know Rick Fairless personally (Stokers Dallas) are more than aware that he’s one of the most giving people in this industry. Rick has listened to me ask countless questions as well as rant/rave about this industry and to me, he is a super role model for succeeding in this industry. Rick’s passion (one of many) is helping others and especially children. Thus no surprise that he’s been the driving force behind supporting the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children with the “Miles and Music Charity Ride“. The date is Friday May 15th. Silent Auction at 5pm. Ride at 7pm. Leaving from Strokers Dallas (9304 Harry Hines Blvd., Dallas) riding to Billy Bob’s (2520 Rodeo Plaza, Ft. Worth, TX). With a donation of $25 per rider participants will receive the escorted ride, up front parking at Billy Bob’s, exclusive access to a post ride party in Billy Bob’s private Guitar Room Bar, and admittance to the James Otto concert. Marines lead way in motorcycle safety

Saturday, May 2nd, 2009

motorcyclesimulatorAs some of you know, we here at Guilty Customs have had the privilege of building some bikes for a few of our troops. One sad note though is the increasing number of military personnel getting killed once they hit home and start riding their bikes. In an effort to curtail that trend, the Marine Aircraft Group 39 officials launched an initiative using a motorcycle simulator to combat these fatalities. The motorcycle simulator provides Marines with an opportunity to learn basic riding skills, improve their techniques and fix bad habits in a safe, controlled environment. Marines can now learn and make mistakes without the risk of damaging their motorcycles, personal property or themselves. 3rd MAW now requires all motorcyclists to hone their riding skills on the simulator at least once a year. All new and future riders must use the simulator before they can take the Basic Riders Course. To read more about this effort, go HERE.
